Wagyu Index buys and sells semen as principal. We use published Wagyu Breeding Values, pedigree, available performance evidence and market price to decide what we are prepared to own.

A position, not a pitch.
Most genetics catalogues are built to sell everything in them. We work differently. We pass on most of what we see and take a position only when we believe the genetics and the price make a commercial case.
That does not make our view neutral or certain. We own the genetics and may profit when we sell them. It does mean our capital is committed before we ask for yours.
Four parts of the decision.
1 · Your objective
The right genetics depend on the females, the production system and the outcome being bred towards. We start there.
2 · Official record
We use current AWA identity, pedigree, Wagyu Breeding Values, accuracies, indexes and genetic-condition information as the foundation.
3 · Other evidence
Where verified progeny, carcase, collection or market evidence exists, we consider it. We state its source and limits.
4 · Price and fit
Good genetics can still be poor value at the wrong price—or the wrong fit for a particular program. We assess both.

Send the animal ident, material, quantity, storage location and the reason you believe the market has it wrong. We buy as principal; we do not collect listings for the sake of it.

Wagyu Index does not publish an independent breed benchmark and does not replace the Australian Wagyu Association’s genetic evaluation. The Index is our view of relative value in a particular commercial context, with our capital behind it.
